Sarah, our Service Lead and Ruth, on of our longest serving volunteers, went to St Augustine’s on Sunday to speak at their service. Ruth talked about a family that had been introduced to us at the family fun day last year, held in the St Augustine’s hub, who were the last family she supported before retiring from her volunteer post with us.
She did some great work with them which saw mum improve her overall wellbeing and her self-esteem as well as building social connections, getting financial support and settling in to a new town.
It was lovely to hear Ruth share the joy she got from volunteering as well as the benefits to the family.
We are looking forward to our next fun day with St Augustine’s on August 17th.
