Our volunteers

Our Family Volunteers are appropriately trained and matched to a family. Volunteers support the family by listening to them in a non-judgemental way, helping them to gain the support they need to make changes, find solutions to their challenges and bring new hope into their lives. A Family Volunteer, once appointed, will commit to spending 1 hour per week with a family for a minimum of 6 months. The visit will usually take place in the family’s home. The Family Volunteer is supported by a Family Coordinator who carries out a risk assessment prior the volunteer working alone.

Without our volunteers Family First just would not work! Our Trustees and Financial Support do an amazing job dealing with the governance of the charity, whilst our fantastic Family Volunteers commit to building a supportive long term relationship with parents.

New volunteers

We spoke to recently recruited volunteer Andy Taylor to find out more about how he decided to get involved with Family First and how he is getting on in his role.  Click here to read the full interview with Andy.

We take the safety of our volunteers seriously and provide a 12 hour training course preparing them for working with families in their own home. Click here to find our more about how we safeguard our volunteers.
